Shannon is a certified Experienced Yoga Teacher (ERYT) and Children's Yoga Teacher (CRYT), as well as having certifications in Acro Yoga (Montreal) and Core Power Strength Vinyasa. Her yoga practice and instruction is vinyasa-style and Ashtanga-based, with influences of Universal yoga, Anusara yoga, and Forrest method. She emphasizes not only asana (postures), but also pranayama (breathwork), bandhas (body locks), and the overall prana (energy) generated by the practice. Shannon tries not to be too esoteric in her teaching, although she takes into account the spiritual and historical underpinnings of yoga, and she believes that a sense of humor, a defiance of gravity, a spirit of adventure, and a willingness to challenge oneself physically and spiritually are fundamental to serious yoga practice and instruction.
